It makes sense that less attention has been paid to the actual gameplay or game world, since Rocksteady left little to improve upon with Arkham City (read our review).īut as the above video proves, even a flawless game doesn't mean innovation or improvement is impossible. So far much of the Origins marketing has been concerned with the story behind the game which villains will be leading the charge, what comics the story will be drawn from, and who may or may not be included in the campaign. Montreal has one hard act to follow: with Batman: Arkham Origins, they won't just be building a game around one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, but trying to live up to two of the best action titles of this generation.Īlthough fans of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City may bristle at the thought of the property being handed off to such a green studio - they were founded solely for this series - but the newest look behind the scenes proves they're fans of Rocksteady's work, and are looking not to tarnish the franchise, but understand what made it so successful, and emulate it.
